Snow and Studio Work

At the moment we are having a long snow.  It snowed yesterday, it’s snowing this afternoon and
it will snow tomorrow.  I’ll be snow shoeing tomorrow.

For now the studio is busy,

Sue is making a slab of colored clay layers, she then formed it into a vase which is in a bisque kiln now, she has been having fun with Eating Art at Young's Studio & Gallery, Jay NYher colored clays.

Last winter Sue created test tiles for all the different stains she could add to clay.

She came up with this display wheel for herself to help her get the color she needed at the right time.  She has her most used colors already mixed and in jars.

In addition to the color clays, Sue is using different techniques to apply the color to pottery, as soon as these pieces come from the kiln I will post them here.

In my little studio I have taken on clay.  January was silk and I’ll get back to that again probably in April or so, but for now I’m into clay.  This week I made four “Towers of Inspiration”, five covered boxes and eight dishes.  I have a slab I’m working on now and I’ll be experimenting with creating oval dishes.

So as work comes from the kilns we’ll post it here.
